Ready to Wear Trends for Spring Summer 2006

Key Look - Trousseau

White, white and of course virginal white, married with frills, ruffles, laces, chiffons and innocent broidery anglaise.

Key Colour - Nude and Neutrals

When the glare of so many whites for Spring cooled off it was interesting to see that instead of colour the next big preference was for Nudes and Neutrals, as chosen by these premier Designers.

Key Beachwear - Glam

Not always quite to bling proportions, but swimwear edges over to glam.

Key Silhouette - Supersize

Sleeves and shoulders supersize the body, and the waist line disappears under yards of fabric, perhaps not in most collections yet, but a likely trend in the making if included here by these influential collections.

Key Dress - Shirt

Romantic, Vintage and Victoriana as well as quirky takes on hubby's finer forgottens.

Key Tailoring - 1980's

The essence of eighties fashion unmistakably diffused through this season's tailoring, High waisted pencils skirts, drainpipe pinstripes, broad shouldered jackets over narrow pants and flirty rah rahs, androgynous suiting and of course the unlikely boiler suit.

Key Erogenous Zone - The Back

The rear view revealed an important perspective for dresses on the Spring Catwalks, the erogenous zones of the back were exposed by even the normally more demure collections of MaxMara and Philosophy, joining Versace, D&G and others in this tasteful and quietly sexy trend.

Key Retro - Seventies Evening Dress

Not really 'Abigails Party', but big floral prints, tiered chiffons, Gypsie blouses and plunge necklines set a very seventies mood for evening dresses.

Key Beauty - Natural and Nudes

Pale lips, nude cheeks and wet look hair lend a very relaxed and natural look to beauty.

Key Focus - Wrestler Belt!

Hardly a trend but the Wrestler Belt will have significant interest with an introduction from these big name labels.
